29-year-old woman says her boyfriend spends $2K on dinner dates, wears a watch costing 6-figures; claims she’s uncomfortable because she’s “normal office worker”

A woman who had vastly different finances from her boyfriend asked if it was possible for the both of them to sustain a relationship.

The 29-year-old woman wrote in an anonymous post on confessions page SGWhispers that she had just started a relationship with her 33-year-old boyfriend.

She added that they had been dating for about half a year, and though she knows where he works, she doesn’t really know what exactly her boyfriend does for a living.

In her post on Sunday (Sept 11), the woman wrote: “Whenever we go out on dates, we will always go to those atas restaurants. The prices are insane! Spending $1000/pax a night on dinner is crazy to me, but it seems like a norm to him”.

She referred to herself as a “normal office worker earning about 3k/4k a month” and said that she could not imagine spending that kind of money. The woman wrote that even when her boyfriend asked to go somewhere cheap, it would “still cost at least $100 for both of us”.

When the woman once dropped her boyfriend’s watch and insisted on paying, he waved her away. When she googled the brand trying to estimate the cost of repairs, she found out that: “His watch is a brand I have never seen before and it costs 6 figures…… there is no way in hell I can afford to pay him back, and I think he knew”.

In her post, she asked if she was crazy and wondered if six months was too soon for them to be talking about finances.

“I did beat around the bush and tell him that I want to buy a house, and settle down eventually, so maybe we should discuss about our future and maybe we can look at BTO in the future, just to kaypoh his finances. He just say that if we do end up getting married, we will just buy any house we want, it should be ok one, no need to worry”, the woman wrote.
She asked netizens if she should just let the topic of money go, as her boyfriend was sweet and had never made her feel uncomfortable otherwise.
