Singapore ― The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported two more Covid-19 related deaths on Monday (Sept 27), comprised of fully-vaccinated Singaporeans.

In its daily Covid-19 update, MOH announced that an 80-year-old female and 74-year-old male, both fully vaccinated against Covid-19, passed away from virus complications.

The individuals had various underlying medical conditions, said MOH.

In total, 80 have passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection.

A total of 1,647 new cases was reported on Monday, of which 1,280 are community cases, 362 dormitory residents cases and five imported cases.

To date, there are 1,288 patients warded in the hospital. Most are well and under observation.

Meanwhile, there are 194 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation and 27 in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Over the last 28 days, MOH noted that the percentage of local cases who were asymptomatic or had mild symptoms is 98 per cent, while 382 cases required oxygen and 41 had been in ICU.

Of these numbers, 51.3 per cent were fully vaccinated, and 48.7 were unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

There were 23 deaths, of whom 34.8 per cent were fully vaccinated individuals and 65.2 per cent were unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

As of Monday, there has been a total of 89,539 Covid-19 cases reported since the start of the pandemic.

Amid a surge of infection in recent weeks, stricter restrictions were imposed, which came into effect on Monday, lasting until Oct 24, 2021.

Permissible group sizes for social gatherings will be reduced from a maximum of five persons to two persons, while the number of unique visitors per household will also be reduced to two per day.

Home-based learning will also be extended until Oct 7, 2021.

For businesses, work from home (WFH) will be the default for employees able to do so, thus suspending the previously imposed 10-day snap WFH regime.

Groups of up to 2 persons, down from the current limit of five persons, will be allowed to dine-in at regular F&B establishments if all diners are fully vaccinated. /TISG
