Safaa Malik, the sister of former member of One Direction Zayn Malik recently got married.

However, her brother was absent from the ceremony. Instead, his ex, Gigi Hadid showed support.

Less than a week after marking her 17th birthday, Safaa Malik got married in a traditional nikkah ceremony with friends and family decked up and beaming on her big day.

Zayn, the popular singer was not present during the event.

The mother of the bride Trisha posted photos radiating in heavy traditional clothing alongside her husband Martin as well as other family members including her two elder sisters Waliya and Doniya, all the while big brother was nowhere to be seen.

“My baby girls big day,” Trisha captioned the post.

While Zayn remained absent, his ex-girlfriend, supermodel Gigi Hadid showed support for the teenager by liking Trisha’s post on Instagram.

Malik and Hadid started dating late 2015. The supermodel appeared in Zayn’s music video, Pillowtalk.

The pair was featured on the Aug 2017 cover of Vogue. Malik and Hadid were the third couple to appear together on a Vogue cover which caused controversy because of Vogue misnaming them as gender fluid for which Vogue later apologised.

As a couple, they also did a Versus (Versace) campaign with Hadid as a photographer.

On 13 March 2018, Hadid and Malik announced their split in separate statements on social media.In June 2018, Hadid confirmed their reconciled relationship on social media. They broke up for good in November 2018.

Zayn’s real name is Zain Javadd “Zayn” Malik and he was born and raised in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

In 2010, he auditioned as a solo contestant for the British music competition The X Factor.

After being eliminated as a solo performer, Malik was brought back into the competition, along with four other contestants, to form the boy band that would later be known as One Direction. Malik left the group in March 2015 and subsequently signed a solo recording contract with RCA Records.
