WP announced COP’s final report on Raeesah Khan’s case, expressed gratitude towards S’poreans for continuous support

Singapore — After months of the Raeesah Khan fiasco, the Committee of Privileges (COP) released its final report by imposing a S$35,000 fine for Ms Khan, and directed the Leader of the Opposition Mr Pritam Singh and fellow Aljunied GRC MP Mr Faisal Manap to the public prosecutor.

COP recommended a fine of $25,000 for the lie uttered twice last Aug 03, 2021, and an additional S$10,000 fine for repeating the untruth on another parliament hearing on Oct 04, 2021. COP stated that the fine was less for the latter since at this time Ms Khan claimed that she only followed the three senior Worker Party’s (WP) leaders’ directives.

In addition to that, COP added that they acknowledge that the fine for repeating the lie should be higher. However, a lower fine was recommended since apart from the reason mentioned above, Ms Khan did eventually admit the truth when she was directed to do so.

COP, in the same report, also referred Mr Singh and Mr Manap to the public prosecutor to face possible criminal charges. COP noted that a distinction should be made apart from Mr Singh and Mr Manap together with Ms Sylvia Lim. According to COP, the two only acted as a subsidiary and was helpful to the committee.

WP, earlier today, have referred to COP’s report in letting the public know about the case’s recent updates through a Facebook post. They mentioned how the two, Mr Singh and Mr Manap will cooperate with the court and defend themselves on the occasion that charges are to be brought upon them.

In the same post, WP assured the people that they have the Singaporeans’ best interests at heart:

“… the Party will continue to work for Singapore and Singaporeans. All our elected MPs will continue to serve our constituents to the very best of our ability while the Party’s work in other constituencies continues…

… We thank all Singaporeans who have supported us through the decades. We are confident that we will persevere and continue our mission of contributing to the building of our democratic society”.

Responding to the Worker’s Party announcement, netizens acknowledged and expressed further support for WP’s mission statement.
