UPDATE: July 18, 2023
Shopee has responded The Independent Singapore with an update on the matter. “HP and Shopee investigated the incident and reached out to the affected buyer to resolve the issue. The correct laptop model had been delivered to the buyer.”
SINGAPORE: A woman took to social media with a complaint concerning an HP laptop she ordered online since the unit she received was different from the model she had ordered.
Facebook user Ah Jie said HP told her that a replacement would be issued, and Shopee also told her that HP would contact her directly about the replacement. However, she wrote in a June 28 post on COMPLAINT SINGAPORE that even though she’s been following up with the store since June 20, she only found out that day that the laptop she ordered is out of stock, even if the company’s official shop had recently still been selling it.
She added that it felt “very obvious they do not intend to honor the deal/agreement, and kept on delay and dragging till today they manage to clear the stock and telling me they’re out of stock.”
The Facebook user wrote that she was “totally disappointed not only by Shopee” but by HP as well, which she termed as a “multi National company that treat us like ant and they can step all over as we’re powerless against them and they can spin you round and round to toy with you and eventually when they are the ones who’s at fault but still hold the power to choose result which is in their favour. And we the small consumer does not have a choice.”
The Independent Singapore has contacted Ms Ah Jie, HP Singapore and Shopee.
Ms Ah Jie attached to her post a screenshot of a June 22 COMPLAINT SINGAPORE post she made explaining that she had received a laptop with lower specifications than the one she ordered.
While the company told her the error had been due to a system issue, she underlined that she would never have purchased the laptop with lower specs from HP in the first place.
The Facebook user also added screenshots of her exchanges from both Shopee and HP.
