The Winner: Guy learns BTS moves, Hokkien to earn GF’s heart; wins $19K wedding banquet at Hilton

Singapore – It’s AAA for effort by a Singapore man who went to extremes to win his girlfriend’s heart.

His totally over-the-top marriage proposal won more than ther heart; it got the couple a wedding banquet at Hilton Singapore Orchard worth more than S$19,000.

It started when Titus Lim saw Esther Tang flash a “bright, beautiful smile” watching Cinderella being whisked away in a horse-drawn carriage.

It was then he decided that he had to pull out all the stops to win her heart and earn  her  “Yes”.

On the Big Day, he sent over a trishaw – Singapore’s answer to a carriage and horses – to ferry Ms Tang to the venue.

There, she is presented with a video of  friends and family members showering her with their best wishes and sharing treasured memories with her.

The video also captures the simplicity of the down-home moment when her beau asks for her parents’ blessing.

Then he shows off his dance moves, showcasing carefully-rehearsed gyrations a la The Bangtan Boys (you probably know them better as BTS) and performed to their hit song Dynamite. Street dancers perform with him while they are filmed at a variety of locations in Singapore.

He chose this approach, he said, because he remembered seeing his girlfriend get all emotional and teary-eyed watching a dance proposal video on YouTube. That’s the reason he used her favourite BTS song for his dance number.

The proposal then progresses to Mr Lim presenting Ms Tang with a McDonald’s chicken nugget buffet, complete with curry sauce packets, highlighting her love for the snack.

For the main event, Mr Lim proposes to Ms Tang in Hokkien as she  had mentioned in the past that she would like him to learn the dialect.

Oh, and she said yes.

They also came in first place in a competition organised by the Hilton Singapore Orchard.

“Planning for your big marriage proposal that is sure to blow the socks off your partner and seal the deal?” Hilton Singapore Orchard said when it popped the competition question on its Instagram page on Oct 19 this year.

Couples submitted their proposals and stood a chance to win a 15-table lunch banquet wedding worth over S$19,000 at the  hotel’s opening in March 2022.

A video of the proposal was posted on Hilton Singapore Orchard’s Instagram page.

And if that was just the proposal, can you imagine what Titus Lim has got planned for the wedding? /TISG
