Wild parties & sex acts at serviced apartment on Emerald Hill Road upset neighbours

A tenant at a heritage house on Emerald Hill Road has allegedly been hosting loud parties that last until the early morning hours, upsetting residents who live in the area.

Moreover, one domestic helper who works in a household near the serviced apartment in question even claims to have seen a couple having sex one night when a party was held last month.

The flat is located at 81 Emerald Hill Road and is owned and rented out by a firm called Hmlet.

A property website says that there are two and five-bedroom furnished apartments at 81 Emerald Hill Road. Hmlet provides short and long-term rentals in the form of corporate serviced apartments.

But it seems that at least one of the renters enjoys partying very much indeed, and the unit that they occupy has been said to have held 100 guests at one such party, reported Stomp, a crowdsourced news site.

These festivities have reportedly gone on for some time now, even when restrictions were in place because of the Covid pandemic.

At least two police reports have been filed by the neighbours over the ‘Zouk-style’ parties.

One helper who did not give her name to Stomp said that on July 22, a loud party prevented her from getting any sleep.

At around 4:00 am, she got up because she heard moaning outside her back door.

She then saw a couple involved in sexual acts.

“Nobody wants to see someone having sex in front of their door, so I turned the lights on,” the 39-year-old helper told Stomp.

Police say they responded to a call that night regarding noise pollution but did not see any indecent acts.

Stomp also quotes a 50-year-old business consultant who said that at one party, “They had tons of people over. It was way over the capacity limit.”

“The whole neighbourhood is very upset about this. This kind of sleaziness is not very nice and it doesn’t bring the right culture… it’s like a brothel,” she added.

“They don’t care, there’s no manager, there’s nobody responsible. There’s usually somebody in charge in rentals, but there’s nobody in charge here. I don’t even know who to call when this happens at 3 am in the morning, I think they need to put in place stringent checks and a manager.”

Additionally, some of the neighbours who Stomp spoke to said that they have been hesitant to merely speak to the residents of the unit without bringing in the police as the partygoers have been ‘drunkenly aggressive’ during their revelries.

“One Saturday night on Jan 30, 2021, I had gone over to ask them to be respectful, but got shouted and laughed at.

I called the police as we really couldn’t sleep and my son was only two years old, small enough to get disturbed and then be up all night,” a former neighbour told Stomp. /TISG
