‘Where’s the meat?’ — Customer shocked at $4.80 breakfast at Boon Lay MRT that would be $2 less elsewhere

The increase in food prices has caused more and more people to post pictures of their meals—together with what they paid—often in shock and dismay at high price tags along with small portions.

One of the most recent examples of this can be found on Reddit on SingaporeRaw, where user ibeunni posted a photo of their “$4.80 breakfast at boon lay cafe (boon lay mrt)” under a tag that reads “Shocking.”

The photo showed a portion of noodles in a reddish-brown sauce with a serving of cabbage on one side and a fried egg on the other.

Commenters agreed that the price of the dish was expensive.

Others said the dish would easily be less expensive elsewhere.

One Reddit user commenting on the post called it “the tidiest mee goreng i’ved seen,” adding that it “looked delicious.”

Others, however, looked for meat, which seemed to be missing from the dish.
