SINGAPORE: Nostalgic photos of old Clementi Town have gone viral on TikTok, of all places. Many Singaporeans flocked to the comments section of the photo collage turned into a video in collective appreciation for the captured memories. Many shared their fondest memories and count themselves blessed to have grown up in a special place.

TikTok user @la0j1a0 recently published a video montage of old Clementi Town photos. Since then, the 2-second video clip has gone viral, with over 90,000 views.

The video caught the eyes of many Singaporeans, especially those who grew up in the area. Many shared fond memories of growing up in Clementi and expressed their amazement at how different it is today.

“When I stayed in Clementi, the bus terminal was just a wooden shack bus stop,” said one. “Time flies.”

Another wrote, “I liked in BLK 345. My childhood was there. Even before the MRT. Bruhh…(it) just brings you to tears.”

The photos reminded many of their childhood, with one sharing, “I accidentally (fell) into the top level fountain when I was seven years old.”

Another netizen shared a fountain memory saying, “I remembered eating filet-o-fish from McDonald’s in a styrofoam box and I dropped the burger into the fountain.”

“Empress Cinema…used to have an A&W restaurant over there,” wrote another.

Funnily enough, two netizens even seemed to have found out that they were neighbours back in the day.

“Lived (in)Ave 4 since ’79. Left 2002. This is how I have always remembered Clementi,” said one, to which another replied, “Same.”

“Hello, ex-neighbour,” the netizen responded.

Two netizens felt quite nostalgic, with one saying, “The best place ever…loved growing up there.”
