‘What’s the point of a shelter?’ — Netizens ask as Admiralty MRT roof leaks from heavy downpour

Netizens have been wondering who designed the shelter at Admiralty MRT station after it failed to keep commuters dry from a heavy downpour.

A video uploaded on the Facebook group Complaint Singapore on Monday (Nov 28) sparked criticism among the online community as it featured an example of the meme, “you had one job” (and still failed).

The video showed the station entrance with passengers seeking shelter from the heavy rain. However, certain parts of the roof failed to keep passengers dry as torrents of rain flowed through.

There were compromised spots on both the left and right sides of the person taking the video; hence, commuters huddled in the middle section.

“Architect from where ah,” asked Facebook user Desmond See while another netizen commented, “Architect from the land full of talent.”

Meanwhile, others pointed out that shelters elsewhere also had dripping roofs.

“No quality check? Same over here at Queenstown. Shelter dripping water. What is the point of a shelter?” asked Facebook user Justin Chew.

“Similar heavy downpour at the bus stop outside Canberra Plaza opposite Canberra MRT,” added another commuter.

One Wak Isa noted that this happens “because they install overlapping roofs. Wasting money and a lazy man design.”

“How many times have these problems commuters faced during rainy days, and what kind of solutions will they come out with?” asked Facebook user Andrew Lee. /TISG
