Wang Yibo gets into car accident while driving Audi R8

CHINA: Okay, so, Wang Yibo, the actor and racer? He had a bit of a scare during a practice run for the GTCC China Series, as reported by VnExpress. It was at the Ningbo International Circuit, just before the big race this weekend. He was driving car number 85, and he kind of lost control on a turn.

Walked away without a scratch

Picture this: a full 360-degree spin, then bam, right into the barrier. The front of his car took a hard hit, but thankfully, he walked away without a scratch. He got out of the car on his own, and they took him back to the pit stop in a safety vehicle. They cleared the damaged car off the track quickly, and he actually got back out there in a backup car and kept practising.

His agency put out a message online, basically saying, “Chill out, drive safe, and learn from every lap. Number 85 is back in action!”

Apparently, it was pouring rain, which made the track super slippery. Sina reported that there were puddles everywhere, and the tyres just weren’t gripping. Apparently, a lot of drivers were having trouble. Experts say this kind of thing is pretty common when you’re racing in the rain.

Starred in popular shows and movies

Just to give you a little background, Wang Yibo, who’s 28, started out in a boy band called UNIQ back in 2014. He really blew up after that drama, ‘The Untamed,’ in 2019. He’s been in a bunch of other popular shows and movies, too.

And he’s serious about his racing. He joined the Yamaha China Racing Team in 2019 and even raced in the Asia Road Racing Championship that same year. He did really well, like second place overall and first in the rookie class at Zhuhai. He’s won a bunch of other races at Zhuhai and Ningbo too.

He’s not just a huge star in China; he’s also always on the Forbes China Celebrity 100 list, even hitting number two back in 2021.
