An incident involving dozens of cartons of eggs that occurred at the intersection of Paya Lebar Road and Geylang Road left a big mess on the street.

Videos of the aftermath were uploaded over social media on the accounts of COMPLAINT SINGAPORE, Singapore Incidents and sgfollowsall on Monday (June 13).

They show cars driving by egg debris that litters the street. Several women stand on the sidewalk near the eggs.

Another video, taken from above, pans over the portion of the street where the eggs fell, with enough yellow liquid pooling on the road to make omelettes for a small army.

Women can be heard laughing in the background of the video.

According to a Mothership report, the incident occurred on June 11 at around 3:10 pm when a truck carrying trays of eggs turned right from Geylang Road to Paya Lebar Road.

A Mothership reader told the publication she had witnessed the incident.

She believed that the driver of the truck had not known that one of the side doors had a loose latch, and was also unaware that some of the eggs had spilt onto the road.

The reader and some colleagues helped clear the mess from the road. They work at TMC Academy, a few meters away from the scene of the incident.

They also separated the broken eggs from the unbroken ones, which is fortunate, as the driver returned less than half an hour later, and they were able to return the unbroken eggs to him.

Commenters on the story seemed to have fun with it, dropping egg-related puns and witticisms in their remarks.
