A video of an uncle stuck inside a lift is circulating online, highlighting a sense of panic that only those who have experienced the same could relate with. Fortunately, a Good Samaritan was nearby to keep the uncle company.

Instagram page Singapore Incidents posted a video of the incident on Friday (March 4), with the caption, “Uncle trapped in the lift.”

The video started with the woman asking the uncle if he was okay. The uncle responded by nodding and giving her a thumbs up.

It appears that the lift stopped midway between the first and second floor, giving the uncle a limited amount of visibility through the window.

The woman then told him to wait, and if help did not arrive in five minutes, she would call again.

She repeatedly assured the uncle that things would be okay and help was on the way.

The video cuts to a serviceman wearing a neon jacket who was coordinating with someone on the phone.

Meanwhile, the woman moves the camera to show floodwater has reached the lift lobby area.

When the serviceman gets the signal, he unlocks a few bolts on the door and pries it open.

The uncle exits the lift safely and thanked the woman for her help. He added that it was scary being trapped in a lift all alone.

Members from the online community commended the woman for waiting with the uncle until he was safe.

“Thanks for what you have done. I’m sure it’s very assuring for the uncle to have you accompany him. I was once trapped in a lift too. Damn panic!” said a netizen.

A Facebook user commented that a similar incident happened at their block about two weeks ago, where an uncle was also stuck in the lift at 7 am.

“It triggered us as we were wondering who on earth was playing with the bell in early hour,” said the resident. “That prompted us to check. Uncle was rescued in less than an hour.” /TISG
