Singapore — Former Workers’ Party MP Raeesah Khan has stuck to her story that it was the party leadership who advised her to keep to the lie that she first told in Parliament on Aug 3.

Video footage of her second time testifying before the Committee of Privileges (COP) was released on Wednesday night. In the footage shown, she again insists that party chief Pritam Singh told her to “take the information to the grave”.

Singer JJ Lin responds to online cryptic posts by anonymous user spamming about their ‘relationship’

Singapore — “Today is my 28th day in Singapore waiting to apologize to a very kind and very handsome friend that I really cherish,” a mysterious netizen wrote to homegrown singer JJ Lin. The cryptic posts are circulating online, garnering a rare response from Lin.

The anonymous user asked Lin if he received “close to hundreds of messages” recently, which were forwarded from his friends and family.

OCBC clients lost S$140,000 in 10 days, warns of SMS phishing scam

Singapore — A sharp rise in phishing scam cases, with customers losing a total of S$140,000 in a mere 10 days, has prompted OCBC Bank to warn its clients to be extra careful.

“For the month of December so far, OCBC Bank has detected and initiated the takedown of 45 phishing websites, about eight times more than the average takedown requests every month,” the bank said on Thursday.

Online post blast cops for manhandling woman in AMK, SPF refutes accusations

Singapore — The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has denied allegations that its officers roughly manhandled a woman at Ang Mo Kio Hub, calling the accusations “categorically untrue”.

SPF said in a Facebook post on Thursday (Dec 23) that it was aware of a post circulating online alleging that police officers had roughly handled a woman when responding to an incident on Thursday morning in the area around the hub.

When the God from the Gutter Gets Old

 

It’s officially Christmas Eve, and I’ve already started having to attend the various celebrations that one has to go to as part of the corporate scene. Company lunch and Middle Eastern restaurant were excellent, and I left the place rolling — so much for the year’s efforts to look that bit slimmer.

I love Christmas, or at least I love the good food and opportunities to drink. If I were in Europe, the highlight would be the family goose, which my mother has turned into an art form (or as the Evil Young Woman said when I brought her back for Christmas – “Oh Grandma cooks good”). I’m not big on presents, but I guess that comes from the fact that I’ve been into shopping — never understood the thrill of owning things.
