Many Singaporeans are very much aware of actor and host Adrian Pang, but they recently discovered themselves simping (slang for having a huge crush on someone who isn’t interested) for him.
Pang recently went viral after doing a transition TikTok video for The Straits Times a day before the National Day Parade.
The 12-second clip started with the 56-year-old holding a camera focused on himself wearing casual clothes while he swept his hair back.
In cue with Jaden Smith’s “Icon,” Pang steps on the screen and lifts his foot away to reveal his transformation.
Pang was then “ready for NDP 2022”, wearing a festive-looking beige floral shirt. ST mentioned that Pang was also the Creative Director for the show.
The transformation proved to be a hit among netizens who gushed over his looks.
“It’s not only me right…” said TikTok user @jjay in a comment with over 855 likes.
Another netizen couldn’t understand why she was watching the video on repeat. The video now has over 242,000 views.
Netizen KayaButterBiscuit said, “How many times did you watch it? Me: yes.”
“Bro, Adrian Pang hits different,” admitted a TikTok user.
“Seeing everyone start simping for Adrian Pang was not on my 2022 bingo card,” said TikTok user @Hannah.
Another common theme among comments was netizens saying Adrian Pang was Singapore’s version of Johnny Depp.
“He is like wine. The older, the better,” concluded TikTok user @Affinity_17.
Due to the numerous thirsty comments, an ST admin had to step in and say, “not y’all misbehaving in the comments.”
But “it cannot be helped,” replied TikTok user @val./TISG
