S’poreans divided over woman dancing on MRT: One says ‘don’t dance in public like crazy girl’ while another says ‘she’s having fun, let her be’

A video of a woman happily dancing in an MRT has drawn both ire and support from Singaporeans. While some said she should be more courteous to other passengers, others saw no problem at all with her expression of happiness.

On Monday (Dec 5) an online user shared a video that sparked quite a debate among netizens. The fourteen-second clip featured a masked woman in a dress, dancing in an MRT. “This girl never respects other(s),” the caption read, “İ hope no body follows her. She thought danc(ing) in MRT makes her (an) artist…”

The netizen posting the video also urged the woman to be mindful of her country, as her actions are a representation of it. “Because if you really love your country, you should live (politely), respect other people, and don’t dance in public like (a) crazy girl.”

While some netizens agreed with this caption, saying that there’s an appropriate place to dance, others argued back, saying they saw nothing wrong with her actions.

“She’s not even invading your privacy,” wrote one. “If you can’t do what she’s doing or you don’t even like what she’s doing, look (the) other way.”

“Did she disturb you? Or did she ruin your peace?” wrote another. “Or is there a law that says no dancing inside the MRT?” Others urged people to take a chill pill, saying, “She’s having fun, let her be.”
