Singapore – Fans of Singaporean Mandopop stars JJ Lin and Stefanie Sun were in for a surprise when they performed an impromptu duet and greeted Singapore a Happy National Day on August 9 (Friday).

Lin hosted an Instagram Live session on his account and invited Sun to join in when he saw her comment on the live video stream.

After a few failed attempts at bringing Sun into the live feed, Lin succeeded and celebrated with cheerful fist pumps to the air while both were shouting in triumph.

Lin and Sun greeted everyone a Happy National Day.

“Do you know this is the first time I’m doing this? First-ever IG (live),” said Sun.

Lin added that it was his first time to ever invite someone to his IG Live sessions.

After talking about improving infrastructure and improvising to avoid the laggy connection, the two chatted a bit before Lin started strumming on his guitar.

Lin admitted that he was learning a song that was new for him, a song that Sun sang in the past.

He tweaked the song and rearranged it with one of his songs – “The new rendition of ‘Our Singapore,’” said Lin.

The pair began to sing the 2002 National Day theme song “We Will Get There.”

“It’s amazing with live (sic) we can still manage the duet,” said Lin happily. “And it rhymes!” he added.

The two engaged in friendly banter after the song where Sun revealed that she appeared in the live session to get a song from Lin.

“I’ll give it to you once I come up with something I’m satisfied with,” said Lin to Sun, who admitted that he had been busy the past few months composing on his piano.

Sun promised to fill in the lyrics after receiving Lin’s work and told viewers to look forward to their upcoming collaboration.

Before saying goodbye to everyone, Sun greeted Lin a Happy National Day and even to “auntie” referring to Lin’s mom.

This was Lin’s cue to walk over to his mom and include her in the live feed.
