Cristiano Ronaldo extends contract with Al-Nassr until he turns 42 years old

Cristiano Ronaldo recently signed a new two-year contract with Al-Nassr, extending his tenure with the club until 2027.

The athlete’s previous contract was set to expire at the end of June. Now, his extension confirms that he will continue to play in the Saudi Pro League, where he has been one of the key players since joining Al-Nassr in 2022.

The contract extension assures that Ronaldo will continue playing with Al-Nassr past his 42nd birthday. Ronaldo shared the news in a social media post, saying: “A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let’s make history together. 🟡🔵”

Netizens expressed their support in the comments section with one of them remarking, “Cristiano, you are the real GOAT 🐐”, while another commenter noted, “Time to achieve the 1000 goal mark LETS GO 💪🏼⚽️”

In another social media post, the Al-Nassr Saudi Club shared the caption: “Cristiano Ronaldo is staying at @AlNassrFC until 2027”

Fans responded with a volley of comments, such as “Thanks for signing Cristiano again!”, “It is great news”, “Haters wanted him to leave… Cristiano is still proving him self”, and “That’s very cool… Another 2 years of greatness”.

There was speculation about Ronaldo leaving the club this summer. The speculation gained ground when FIFA president Gianni Infantino said there was talk about Ronaldo playing in the Club World Cup, even though Al-Nassr didn’t qualify. Ronaldo received offers from clubs that would participate in the tournament, but he said he turned them down.

Since joining Al-Nassr after leaving Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo has played in 105 matches for the club. He has scored 93 goals during this time, including 74 in the Saudi Pro League.

Ronaldo scored 35 goals in 41 games across all competitions last season, earning the league’s Golden Boot as Al-Nassr finished in third place.

However, Ronaldo has yet to win a Saudi league or continental title with Al-Nassr, despite being the Pro League’s top scorer. This season, Al-Nassr was eliminated in the Asian Champions League semifinals last month.

Saudi Arabia has transformed its football scene by investing in European star athletes, starting with Ronaldo’s transfer in 2022. For the past two years, Saudi Arabia’s football fans have been able to see top players such as Ronaldo and Karim Benzema play regularly during their football season.

Now, the Pro League will see further developments and investments as Saudi Arabia is preparing to host the 2034 World Cup.
