Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds recently purchase an ownership stake in US carrier Mint Mobile. The California based company offers low-cost data plans with unlimited talk and text to those who bring their own phones to the network.

The carrier is an MVNO that operates on T-Mobile’s nationwide LTE network. The latest promotion from Mint Mobile $45 for three months’ service with 12 GB of data per month. By paying for a few months at a time, you renew your service to up to 12 months.

According to Reynolds, the way it works is unconventional which may be what consumers need. Usually, celebrities invest in luxury products such as skincare brands or gin companies.

Reynolds will be in charge of Mint’s communication team, marketing efforts and strategic decision making.

The Hollywood actor played the protagonists for both Detective Pikachu and Deadpool.
