Singapore — The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 910 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday (Sept 16), the highest daily number since May 2020.

Of the 910 cases reported by MOH, 803 are community cases, 103 belong to dormitory residents, and four are imported cases.

According to MOH, 244 of the local cases are seniors who are above 60 years old.

A 72-year-old female Singaporean has passed away from Covid-19 complications on Sept 16.

She had developed symptoms on Sept 4 and tested positive for Covid-19 infection on Sept 6.

MOH noted she had not been vaccinated against Covid-19 and had a history of atypical chest pain, Graves’ disease, hypertension and dyslipidaemia.

In total, there have been 59 deaths related to Covid-19 infection.

As of Sept 16, there are 837 Covid-19 cases warded in hospital, of which most are well and under observation.

There are currently 77 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation and 12 in critical condition in the ICU.

Of those who have fallen very ill, 69 are seniors above 60 years old.

Over the last 28 days, the percentage of local cases who were asymptomatic or had mild symptoms is 98.2 per cent, said MOH.

There were 135 cases that required oxygen supplementation, 12 had been in the ICU, and four died, of whom none was fully vaccinated.

Regarding vaccination, 82 per cent of the population has completed their full regimen while 84 per cent has received at least one dose. /TISG
