Pierce Brosnan took a firm stand when his wife Keely Shaye Smith was fat-shamed recently. The mother of two was offered weight loss surgery by his friends and Brosnan who has been married to her for 20 years did not take it lightly. Brosnan took to social media to respond.

The comment came after a Facebook user shared two snaps of Brosnan and Keely, one from about 30 years ago and a more recent one. The post was later taken down for fat-shaming, but not before Pierce Brosnan made a few comments himself, defending his wife.

“But I strongly love every curve of her body. She is the most beautiful woman in my eyes. And also because she had our five children. In the past, I truly loved her for her person, not only for her beauty, and now I’m loving her even more that she is my children’s mother.

“And I am very proud of her, and I always seek to be worthy of her love,” he said.

The former James Bond actor who is also equally famous for his role in Remington Steele in the 80s; married Keely in 2001. He met her after he lost his first wife, Australian actress Cassandra Harris to ovarian cancer.

On their 20thanniversary he shared a note saying, “My love forever grows with you,” to which Keely replied “Still the one! Thank you for the gift of your love and friendship. The world is more beautiful with you in it!”

Brosnan has played James Bond four times in GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day. His breakthrough role in television came from Remington Steele, which ran from 1982 until 1987. He also later starred in The Fourth Protocol and Mrs Doubtfire.
