Pasir Ris staycation chalet costs guest S$300+/night even with cracked walls, chipped paint, stains, and greenish mould

A TikToker guest named Keegennn posted a video showing the flaws in the accommodations at Heritage Chalet in Pasir Ris on Friday (Sept 23), including chipped paint, stains, and what looked like a greenish type of mould on the walls.

He captioned the video by writing “Still asked the if they cleaned the room before hand and the lady said ‘Yep’ and another staff said ‘This morning we just cleaned’.”

The accommodation had cost them “$300+/night.”

The venue’s Facebook page says that Heritage Chalet offers “an idyllic home for local holiday-makers.”

But Keegennn’s stay appeared to be less than idyllic, judging from his video.

He also wrote in the comments that he found the place “extremely inconvenient and rundown” and that moving to another room would incur extra costs.

Many commenters seemed to agree that the fee the TikToker paid had been too expensive.

However, the director of Heritage Chalet Ms Lily Kong has commented on the issue, telling AsiaOne that since the four-bedroom booking the TikToker guest had can accommodate as many as 10 people, each person only pays $30 per night.

“We do not promise luxury,” she added, and clarified that the green substance featured in the video was because of the “challenging elements of sun, rain, and salty seawater”.

Ms Kong also maintained that the accommodation was clean, as “sweeping, mopping, emptying garbage, changing of bed linen” had taken place before guests check-in.

Furthermore, she added that the TikToker had been “unhappy about it and threatened to put it on the media,” but she said, “We refuse to be bullied by the guests.”

She called Heritage Chalet is “a business enterprise which works hard to provide a no-frills accommodation for holidaymakers near the beach”.
