Multi-faith Singapore: 10 religious groups bless country’s F1 Night Race together

Singapore—In a touching and heartwarming display of the multi-faith nature that makes up Singapore, representatives of 10 religious groups came together to bless the F1 Singapore Night Race, which is an annual event.

The 10 faiths that were represented were Hindus, Jews, Zoroastrians, Buddhists, Taoists, Jains, Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, and Baha’i.

Singapore Grand Prix posted a photo of the ten clergymen standing side by side, shoulder to shoulder on the track, speaking their prayers and blessings.

It was captioned, “Truly a #SingaporeGP special! A gathering of religious leaders, representing 10 different faiths, shower their blessings upon the event. #F1NightRace.”

The faith leaders were identified in the post as

The Grand Prix for this year will be held at the Marina Bay Street Circuit from September 20 to 22.

Religious leaders have been blessing the track since 2008, the year the first Singapore Night Race was held. They are also known to come to MRT tracks and National Day Parades in order to give their blessings.

Netizens expressed appreciation over the clergymen coming together for the blessing

Netizen Harsha Kant wrote, “We need the blessings and prayers after what hapnd (sic) in Belgium”

On August 31, Anthoine Hubert, a French driver was killed in an accident during the Formula Two feature race at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.

According to ESPN, “Hubert, 22, lost control of his car on the second lap of the race at the top of the Raidillon corner, which follows the famous Eau Rouge section of the Belgian race track. Raidillon is a blind corner at the crest of a hill. After an initial impact with the barriers, Hubert’s car came back onto the race track and was hit at upwards of 200 km/h by American driver Juan Manuel Correa. Hubert’s car was split in two pieces by the crash.

A third driver, Giuliano Alesi, was involved but was unharmed after his car came to a halt without a rear wing and a punctured rear tyre.”
