SINGAPORE: An employer who asked other helpers for their opinions on being made to sleep in the living room was harshly told off by some. Many helpers said they would never agree to such sleeping conditions, with some even saying that their own houses are far bigger.
In an anonymous post to a support group for domestic helpers and employers alike, one woman asked: “Hi all, we are hoping a hire a helper to assist us. However, we do not have an extra room. Is it okay to get the helper to sleep in the living room?”

SINGAPORE: When asked how Nicole Seah and Leon Perera reacted when confronted about the affair, Workers’ Party Chief Pritam Singh said they were “disappointed with themselves”.
Though neither Perera nor Seah was present at the press conference, Mr Singh said Leon was especially disappointed for the pain that he had caused his family members. Perera is married with two children.

SINGAPORE: The Workers’ Party (WP) has announced that it will hold a media conference on Wednesday (19 July) to address a circulating video featuring Aljunied GRC MP Leon Perera and senior party member Nicole Seah. The video, which shows the two individuals touching hands, has raised concerns within the party and voters.
The media conference will be chaired by WP secretary-general and Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh and will take place at the party’s headquarters in Geylang.

Singapore: “What are your thoughts about the coincidence of the video circulating on the internet hours before (former) Speaker Tan Chuan-Jin and (former) MP Cheng Li Hui announced their resignations?” asked a reporter during the Workers’ Party press conference addressing the affair between Leon Perera and Nicole Seah.
Party Chief Pritam Singh paused momentarily before replying: “Anything that I say now will be speculative. I don’t really enjoy speculative narratives given my position, and I don’t want to encourage speculative statements in public from any of my party members. And I would be very concerned if we went down that road”.

SINGAPORE: The Workers’ Party announced during a press conference on Wednesday (Jul 19) that Aljunied GRC MP Leon Perera and senior Workers’ Party (WP) member Nicole Seah were asked to resign and step down from their positions.
This decision came after a video circulating online suggested “an inappropriate exchange between two senior party members”.
