A man by the name of Bruce took to TikTok to share the ten things he would do should he become the Prime Minister of Singapore. In his video, firstly, he said he would “give 90 per cent of my salary to help the poor. $300,000 minus $270,000, $30,000 I can live comfortably. A good life, and to send a clear signal that I am not in it for the money”.
He went on to add that he would reduce the cost of water and electricity by 50 per cent “because the masses need it, and that will reduce cost of living”. Bruce also continued that he would reduce transportation costs by 50 per cent and reduce the Goods and Services Tax (GST) to 5 per cent, with “no GST on groceries”.
For those aged 65 and above, he would implement a monthly allowance of $1000 as it “is so sad to see the old folks cleaning tables in their golden years or pushing trolleys at the airport. This is not right. We must do the right thing”.
Bruce noted that he would implement a minimum wage of $15 per hour.
“No children would go hungry. Funds to ensure children would have nutritious meals. That is very important”, he said.
“All Ministers’ pay reduced by 50 per cent. This is to send a clear signal to the people that they are not in it for the money”, Bruce said.
“That is why it is called public servant. To serve the people. And that way you command respect. When people see you, they see you with respect”, he said. Bruce then went on to call that the position of Mayors is done away with.
Bruce, who went by the handle of @bruceseah1, has since taken down his video, but it was downloaded and shared online. His video was shared on Facebook by another netizen who went by the name of Constance Chew. /TISG
