Dear Editor,

I refer to the article: Former M’sian PM Najib unhappy S’pore cars pumping cheap RON95 petrol, Msia to halt selling subsidised petrol to foreigners

It’s really a shame for rich Singaporeans to be heading North for cheap petrol.

Those who own and drive Singapore-sold cars should know that their certificate of entitlement alone is upwards of S$70,000 or RM210,000/- without inputting the cost of the car.

There is, therefore, no reason to rush with poorer folks for cheap RON95 petrol costing RM5.00/- a litre.

It is not worth it, especially when driving a new or expensive car on badly-paved roads with lots of potholes on Johore roads. The cost for repair is much higher than the RM5.00 gas.

At the same time, this will help the authorities up North to deploy their security forces to other high crime areas rather than at petrol stations to check whether Singaporeans have pumped their heavily subsidised fuel.

It will do a lot of good if Singaporeans keep driving on Singapore roads and pump local petrol, which I was informed are higher quality-produced gases from the Jurong Islands.
