Singapore — Sharing a photo of poorly planned safe-distancing measures at a hawker centre, Makansutra founder KF Seetoh took to social media on Sunday (Feb 12).

In a Facebook post, the photo that Mr Seetoh shared showed a table of six with almost all the seats seemingly cordoned off. This was despite the adjacent tables all being more than a metre away.

In his post, Mr Seetoh wrote: “Seriously, u gotta relook this seat spacing thingy. Don’t apply dogma hor use common sense mah.!”

“At least 3 ppl deprived of seats here and u ask all to go back to work n fill up those empty offices. The cha cha dance to endemicity is gonna trip us up,” he added.

Many others in the comments section called out the seating restrictions as well because a table of possible seats was blocked off.

At present, the group size for dine-in and social gatherings is limited to 5 persons. Up to 5 persons are allowed to dine in together at F&B establishments, as long as they have met requirements for Vaccination-Differentiated Safe Management Measures (VDS).

Groups of up to 5 persons are allowed to dine in at hawker centres and coffee shops where full VDS checks have been implemented.

Otherwise, dining-in at hawker centres and coffee shops without full VDS checks will remain at groups of up to 2 persons who are fully vaccinated. Strict enforcement action will be taken against coffee shops that allow groups of up to 5 fully vaccinated persons to dine in without implementing the necessary checks, as well as against individuals who breach this rule. /TISG
