Keep up with Kim K’s ‘Met Gala’ look with Paya Lebar Quarter’s version

Singapore — You don’t need a Balenciaga look to replicate Kim Kardashian’s all-black outfit at the Met Gala because the Paya Lebar Quarter mall has done it with tights, socks, and bath towels.

Reality star Kim Kardashian attended the 2021 Met Gala with another unconventional take on the theme, which was “American independence” this year.

She appeared in an all-black look, covering every inch of her body, including a mask covering her face.

On top of confusion by many, her outfit has received praise from others who understood the black t-shirt meaning.

“The extremity and the simplicity. A black t-shirt (a very American invention), a shroud and a train,” wrote fashion blogger and socialite Bryan Boy on Instagram.

“The power of making yourself known while disguising yourself. Genius. Pure brilliance,” he added.

“What’s more American than a T-shirt head to toe?!” wrote Kim on Instagram to also explain her choice of outfit.

Not straying far from Singapore, a parody of the “American invention” was spotted at PLQ mall.

“Keeping up with PLQ,” the mall wrote on Facebook on Wednesday (Sept 15).

The model donned heels, socks and tights (placed over the head) from H&M, bath towels for the train from Home’s Harmony, and mesh arm covers from Uniqlo.

The result?

Members from the online community loved the ingenuity of the outfit and paired it with a photo of Singapore’s Kanye West lookalike asking, “Kim, is that you?”
