Kate Pang: ‘I was extremely depressed after giving birth, which made me really regret not insisting on going to the confinement centre’

Kate Pang, a 39-year-old Singaporean and Taiwanese former actress and television host, shared her maternal journey experience online, stating that she regretted not insisting on going to confinement centres when she was pregnant with her two children.

“When I gave birth to my first child, my life was really poor.

During the confinement period, in order to save money, I borrowed from my sister’s house and had the confinement myself. I had haemorrhoids caused by childbirth, a baby who couldn’t get enough food every day, a pile of fat on my body, and I didn’t sleep enough and eat well every day, she said.

She mentioned that after giving birth to her firstborn, she suffered from depression. Since then, she had been giving advice to mothers to consider going to confinement centres.

During the pregnancy of her second child, she was in a good financial situation, which allowed her to hire a confinement nanny. The journey was way smoother than the first, but she still didn’t experience the comfort of being admitted to a confinement centre.

“It was a smooth journey, but every time I see my friend’s life in the confinement center, I still yearn for it 🤣 she added.

Due to an invitation from her classmate, Leo Clam, she finally was able to grant her wish of experiencing confinement centres. She joyfully enjoyed the confinement meal and drank the confinement tea – her long-awaited encounters.
