Seoul — K-pop star The Great Seungri, 28, is facing accusations of having been an active member of an online group chat which shares sexually intimate videos of different women without their consent.

He is also being charged with police bribery and having provided sex workers to visiting foreign businessmen in Seoul.

In news updates, Seoul District Police announced that they have received several testimonials supporting claims against Seungri’s illegal activities.

Police are also investigating suspicions of the K-Pop star’s link to overseas prostitution and gambling. They refrained from divulging all details as investigations are still underway.

On Seungri’s national service enlistment and his reported request for a delay, the police explain that the Military Manpower Administration (MMA) would look consider the request. Police investigations on his criminal charges will continue whether he enlists or not, with police to send the MMA a compliance request.

Seungri’s initial involvements

In January this year, a popular Korean broadcaster showed footage of a male customer at the upmarket Seoul nightclub Burning Sun being led out by security officers. Reports claimed a woman working the club had been sexually assaulted.

Seungri is found the club’s executive director.

The following month, another controversy broke out showing incriminating text messages that involved Seungri in pimping women.

There were also allegations that the Burning Sun’s staff were drugging female sex workers so that their customers could take advantage of them.

South Korea considers prostitution as illegal. If convicted, Seungri will be charged with three years of imprisonment. The Korean superstar initially denied the allegations.

In March, a group chat was found involving Seungri and seven other personalities, sharing footages of their personal sexual fantasies with women. Some of the women were believed to have been drugged.

On March 14, while outside the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, Seungri was seen with the reporters saying “sorry to the nation and everyone who has been hurt.”

The scandal that Seungri is currently facing is not his first. In 2012, Japanese media leaked photos of the pop star in bed with an unidentified woman in bed.
