Jamus Lim

Workers’ Party MP Jamus Lim encouraged everyone to take advantage of the cooler weather Singapore is enjoying at present to get a head start on their health goals. Instead of putting it off until the New Year, that is.

He wrote that one of his “major” motivations for staying fit is so that he can enjoy running around with his little girl. The Sengkang GRC MP is 46, and his little girl, born in November 2019, just turned three. He also wants to stay in shape in the hopes of being able to join his daughter in climbing a mountain “should she wish, especially given her outdoorsy personality.”

“Hopefully, you’ll be able to find an enduring motivation of your own, whatever it may be, that’ll keep you going throughout the year to come,” he added. “If you’re contemplating starting a new #HealthySG routine as a New Year’s resolution, why not be a rebel and start now?” he wrote in a Thursday morning (Dec 15) post on Facebook and Instagram.

The Sengkang GRC Member of Parliament posts quite often about his physical fitness routines, and he also regularly runs with residents at Sungei Punggol.

In October, he also went on a hiking tour with residents from Anchorvale, with his wife and young daughter joining the trip.

In his latest social media post, he wrote, “One of the small perks from this time of the year is the relatively cooler mornings. This means—for those of us who start our day with a workout—that going that jog outside or doing exercises in the park become just a little bit more pleasant.”

Some of his fitness buff followers expressed agreement with him in their comments.

Another netizen encouraged him to “Keep it up. Not only for your daughter but for the country. We need you to stay healthy and fit to carry on the opposition journey of eventually taking over from PAP. Hopefully you get to be PM then.”
