Singapore — A man who had sex with a 14-year-old underage girl in public toilets has been sentenced to 22 months jail.

Muhammad Asraf Mustaffa, a 27-year-old insurance agent, chatted with the girl he met on the messaging platform Telegram starting Feb 2017.

After chatting for several months, Asraf found out that the girl was still in Secondary 2 making her 11 years younger than he was.

She allegedly asked him to be her “sugar daddy.”

Despite the age difference, Asraf asked out the girl on a date in Aug 2017.

Court documents stated that Asraf had “no prior experience” and was “curious about sex” when he was chatting with the underage girl according to a report by Channel News Asia.

Asraf discussed the date with the girl, and they planned to have lunch then sex afterwards. The girl told Asraf to bring condoms.

They agreed to meet at Bishan MRT station on Aug 11, 2017.

Asraf met up with the girl, wearing her school uniform, and had lunch.

They went to a secluded toilet for the disabled at Bishan Junction 8 for them to have sex in.

They continued chatting over the next few months and met again for sex inside a toilet for the disabled at Velocity shopping mall.

Asraf even accompanied the girl home after their illicit trysts.

He pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual penetration of a minor on Wednesday (Aug 4).

Asraf’s lawyer argued that his client suffered from a “major depressive disorder” and diabetes. He pleaded for 10 to 20 months of jail since Asraf is a first time offender.

Asraf could have been fined and jailed for 10 years for each charge of sexual penetration of a minor but he faces 22 months of jail instead. -/TISG
