Is Stephen Chow secretly married? Ex-girlfriend Karen Mok comments

Director-actor Stephen Chow has been the subject of many rumours regarding his love life despite being a private person.

He was rumoured to be the mysterious father of actress Cecilia Cheung’s third child in Jan 2019.

The latest rumour is that he is married.

In 2010, he broke up with longtime girlfriend construction heiress Yu WenFeng and the 57-year-old had remained single since.

Last Monday (15 Jul) a former entertainment reporter in Hong Kong claimed that Stephen was married.

A netizen questioned on Weibo on how Stephen’s movie will fare at the box office and the reported replied: “With the encouragement of his new wife, Stephen’s fighting spirit will reignite once more.

“After being starved of Stephen’s acting for a number of years, the audience will definitely be excited. I believe that the box office takings will soar.”

That statement sent netizens into a frenzy as they thought that the ‘King of Comedy’ had tied the knot.

They took to social media to send him blessings and well-wishes.

There were some who cast doubt on the claim and requested for proof.

Ex-flame Karen Mok was asked about the rumour on Wednesday (24 Jul) by Hong Kong media at a charity art exhibition.

She said she heard about it but cannot confirm its veracity.

“He’s very mysterious! You all should ask him!” the singer-actress laughed.

Karen has not seen Stephen since she contributed to You’re The Best In The World (the promotional song for Stephen’s 2016 film The Mermaid).

She thinks that the rumours are not credible but if they turn out to be true she is not surprised.

She thinks he is getting on in years and should settle down.

“If it’s true, then congratulations!” she said.

It’s been reported that Stephen’s assistant clarified that the rumours are fake.
