During the Progress Singapore Party’s (PSP) first walkabout, Secretary-General Dr Tan Cheng Bock crossed path with People’s Action Party (PAP) Member of Parliament (MP) Indranee Rajah.
The met in Tiong Bahru Market, shared a brief and cordial-looking exchange before moving on.
It was also reported that the MP told reporters shortly after to “let the people choose the person who can serve them well”.
To this, Dr Tan responded saying that being on the opposition, they need not be confrontational, but to be cordial and still work on things together.
Indranee Rajah has been the MP representing the Tanjong Pagar Group Representation Constituency since 2001. She also serves as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Finance and Second Minister for Education.
Last year, a Facebook post claimed Indranee Rajah ‘disturbed’ an elderly couple which led to her refuting the claims on her Facebook page.
The private Facebook post described a PAP lunch walkabout at Tiong Bahru Market on that Sunday during Indranee Rajah then met an older couple during her rounds. The post refuted the claims she disturbed a couple during the walkabout.
During their island-wide walkabout, the PSP visited numerous other locations such as: Jurong East, Jurong Point, Upper Boon Keng Road, Bedok, Old Airport Road, Sengkang West Avenue, Pasir Ris and MacPherson.
Dr Tan himself visited Tiong Bahru and Ghim Moh with Assistant-Secretary General Anthony Lee. Currently, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan serves as MP for Holland-Bukit Timah GRC, which Ghim Moh comes under.
Meanwhile, Central Executive Committee (CEC) Member Michelle Lee was seen making her rounds at Bishan-Toa Payoh, currently helmed by Dr Ng Eng Hen and Mrs Josephine Teo.
