A netizen who seemed to grow irate after having to wait behind a wheelchair on a travelator at Serangoon MRT posted a complaint on social media.

However, commenters on his post ended up schooling him, telling him to have more patience and compassion, especially for the wheelchair-bound person he followed.

A Mr Jackie Nguyen posted about the incident on the Complaint Singapore Facebook page on Tuesday (Oct 25), along with two photos of the woman who had been pushing the wheelchair.

He wrote that the incident had occurred at around 4:40 that afternoon at Serangoon MRT between the purple line and yellow line.

“A wheelchair was using the track and blocked all the people behind. Thinking just say ‘excuse me’ so they will give a way to go through? Think about it again, there is no room for it,” he wrote, before asking, “Can the wheelchair use this track?

If not, SMRT please put up the signage and fine attached. It took a little hiccup for the wheelchair to exit the track and what if the whole punch of people behind domino up? Risk assessment got mentioned this?

If yes, around 50 people (stacking behind) x 40s (each) = 2000s lost totally. SMRT, can the mrt wait or will the track be broaden?”

Since it was published, Mr Nguyen’s post has received almost 250 comments.

One netizen told him that the travelator is for disabled people.

“Wheelchair sia.. that 1 min of yr life, can’t you be more gracious?,” asked another.

“Seeing how thin the lady is, did it came upon you to put down your goddamn phone to stop taking photos and help her push the wheelchair?” One netizen asked.

Another commenter wrote, “But you can walk too right ??”

One commenter encouraged the poster to “just give and take.”

Yet others told him that if he cannot wait, he should just walk.
