‘I need to lodge police report’ — Neighbour caught on camera moving resident’s shoes outside her HDB flat

SINGAPORE: A resident caught on camera how her neighbour kept moving her footwear, left outside her flat.

The resident complained that her shoes were not always where she left them on her rack outside her HDB flat located at New Upper Changi Road in Bedok. Eager to know who is behind this, she decided to install CCTV cameras. 

On Oct 2, CCTV footage showed that a woman bent down to pick up two pairs of the resident’s footwear from the rack and walked a few steps to place the shoes on another rack randomly. Apparently, it was her next-door neighbour who moved in two years ago. She had not talked to her neighbour about the incident, she said, because she felt awkward about bringing up the subject.

She also did not file a police report or complain to the town council.

Meanwhile, the unfortunate incident recurred again—the neighbour moved her footwear on Oct 28, and it was caught on camera. 

“She even placed my working shoes on my other neighbour’s plant… I suppose I need to lodge a police report just in case my other neighbour finds fault with me in case my shoes destroy her plants,” the resident declared. 

Her footwear was moved again on Oct 30, this time ending up at her neighbour’s door. 

Unfortunately, there were other issues with the neighbour as well. The resident said, “I lost one huge trolley when she renovated her home a year after moving in. She used my trolley to move her luggage, but never returned it.” 

When the neighbour was asked where the trolley was, she replied that she would contact her contractors. 

“I didn’t argue with her. I told her if she was the one who borrowed my trolley, please help put it back… She then raised her voice and said that I was from China or Malaysia. She claimed I was a nasty person to communicate with. She threatened to make a police report as I had no evidence regarding my trolley,” she added. 

She also complained that the neighbour played very loud music every night after midnight. “This was after my shoe incident when I decided to contact Stomp for help,” she concluded.
