Singapore – A foreigner in Singapore recorded his encounter with  a Grab driver whose car was stopped in the middle of the road, and wondering if  the driver should be reported to the police.

The man who said he had been riding a bicycle at the time, shared his experience on Facebook page Complaint Singapore in a post on Thursday.

He said he “saw a car standing in the middle of the lane, with brake lights on” and “I thought something has happened, but the driver was just staring into his phone”.  So he took a selfie with the car in the background.

Then the driver began moving his car forward. “The driver shoot me on his phone holding the phone with both hands, not even looking at the road,” said the cyclist.

“Then he cut me off, jumped out of the car and started to shout that he was a Grab driver waiting for client.” The cyclist attached a photo of the Grab driver showing his phone to prove he was pickup up a passenger.

The man asked the online community if the taxi driver’s behaviour was acceptable and if he should have reported the incident to the police or Grab.

“Is it allowed to make photos of cars or people in public places? I wonder what made the man so outrageous,” he asked.

The post has already garnered more  170 comments, with netizens reacting to what one called the “one-sided story”.

“You are too concerned with getting the car or driver into trouble than getting him out of trouble,” said another Facebook user.

Others noted that the road was fairly empty, and the cyclist could simply have gone on his way instead of taking a selfie and creating an issue.

Several netizens also commented that times were tough, and the complainant  shouldn’t destroy the Grab driver’s rice bowl./TISG
