Pandemic notwithstanding, most people have decided that staying home all year round is simply not on anymore and as of late families are also eager to give their children that long-overdue holiday.
From returning to their favourite destinations pre-pandemic to adventurous journeys to new and wondrous places across the world, many are on the move.
For a guide on where to go TripAdvisor is offering some great tips and also handed out awards to some of the most family-friendly hotels across the world recently.
“We know there is not a one-size-fits-all approach to travel planning. Some travellers are looking for unique stays – ranging from cave hotels to overwater bungalows – while others are looking for a quaint B&B,” said Kanika Soni, Chief Commercial Officer, Tripadvisor. “No matter what type of trip you are looking for, this year’s Travellers’ Choice Awards – with winners spanning six continents and 90 countries – showcase the top recommendations from other travellers.”
In the family friendly hotel category, TripAdvisor votes the Alpino Baby Family Hotel in Andalo, Italy as the number one family friendly hotel in the world for 2022.
The hotel facilitates the needs of the family with different types of rooms for children and baby, there is also a lunch and dinner schedule and menu for children, an internal game room measuring 250 square meters, a lego area, ball pool, soft corner, library, cinema room, climbing wall, area for jobs, interactive games and cannon balls. The new junior room also has billiards, table football, Wii, interactive play and sitting area.
There is a mini-club that is open from 8.30 to 22.00 from Monday to Saturday and Sunday from 12.00 to 22.00. The swimming pool called “Acqua In” is just a 100 metres from the hotel.
Needless to say Italy isn’t exactly within reach for many families so closer to home in Asia, there’s the Pullman Ciawi Vimala Hills Resort in Megamendung, Indonesia.

The young ones can play all day in their very own fun pool or stay in the shade of the cheerful kids’ club where they’ll find books, games and activities galore. Families can explore the resort together on borrowed bikes, or enjoy long walks and yoga sessions in the landscaped garden or Fit Lounge. Workshops giving an introduction to the art of rice harvesting are held regularly, and an interactive herb garden lets guests learn more about sustainable gardening.
