ebm-papst Southeast Asia Grand Opening of APAC Hub

SINGAPORE: Leading German fan and motor manufacturer ebm-papst, marked a significant milestone on Nov 28 with the grand opening of its modernized office and warehouse building in Singapore. ebm-papst is investing approximately €1 million (S$1.4M) in its Singapore location, positioning it as the future Asia headquarters within the ebm-papst Group, PR Newswire reports.

With its Southeast Asia base taking on added importance, ebm-papst aims to oversee operations across the entire Asia-Pacific and Middle East Asia region from Singapore. The move aligns with the company’s “Decoupling China Strategy,” which aims to reinforce its global presence in Southeast Asia and bolster supply chain resilience. The grand opening was attended by key figures, including Group CEO Dr Klaus Geißdoerfer and CSO/CEO Air Technology APAC & MEA Thomas Nuernberger, alongside employees, local customers, and visitors.

Dr Geißdoerfer expressed the company’s commitment to leveraging market potential in the Asia-Pacific region, citing Singapore’s status as a digitalization and sustainability pioneer. “The strengthening of the Singapore site is a significant milestone for us. The country is a pioneer in the areas of digitalization and sustainability, as well as the hub of the Asia region—a perfect combination for us,” he remarked.

While reinforcing its presence in Singapore, ebm-papst emphasises its ongoing commitment to China. Thomas Nuernberger stated, “China is and will remain an important part of the ebm-papst Group and entrepreneurial activities in the Asian region.”

As part of the broader strategy, ebm-papst aims to enhance production capacities in China and India, with additional investments earmarked for the Singapore facility.

The Singapore renovation project aims to create a modern workspace for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) management team, revamp existing work areas and the warehouse, and establish a forward-looking application laboratory and customer experience centre.

ebm-papst, renowned for setting industry standards in energy-efficient products, is committed to advancing ventilation technology. The company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) team is actively developing a comprehensive sustainability strategy to achieve climate neutrality within the company (Scope 1 + 2) by 2025.

Since its establishment in Singapore in 1996, ebm-papst has been a key player in the region, employing around 38 people.
