Double accident on opposite sides of PIE — Netizens say likely from motorists ‘kaypoh’ (busybody), slowing down & looking at the opposite side accident

Two accidents were spotted at the same moment on opposite sides along the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) on April 20, serving as a reminder for motorists to stay focused when on the road.

Facebook page Beh Chia Lor – Singapore Road shared footage of the accident, both involving cars and motorcycles. “Glitch in the matrix,” the post noted as the accidents happened parallel to one another on each side of the expressway.

On one side, right before the Upper Serangoon exit on Pie, there were three motorcycles and a taxi affected by the incident.

The riders and the taxi driver could be seen handling the situation and exchanging information.

Meanwhile, a few metres away, two motorcycles and a sedan were involved in a separate accident. One of the motorcycles lay on its side on the road.

“When you drive, don’t look at other side accident,” said the video’s voice caption.

Netizens commented on the post, agreeing that the accident couldn’t have happened simultaneously and was more likely an effect of one side being kaypoh or busybody road users.

“This only will happen when the driver becomes a KPO,” said Facebook user Nicholas Guo in a comment.

“I really hate it when drivers slow down to kaypoh on accident at opposite side seeking for 4D numbers. Accident in one direction resulting in slow traffic in both directions,” added Facebook user Victor Foo.

Another netizen suggested that the Land Transport Authority put up the affected vehicle number on the overhead display panel to prevent eager motorists seeking 4D numbers from putting others at risk.

“I don’t even turn my head to see an accident scene when I am driving. If I am with family, I will ask them to see while I continue to drive. Dunno why the need to be kapo until slow down and risk getting into an accident,” said Facebook user Wee Hong Ng, providing another workaround./TISG
