Customer complains $1.60 RedBull at coffeeshop too expensive, but buys $1.90 RedBull at petrol station and squats instead

Many have been complaining about high prices of food at hawker stalls, coffee shops, and other eateries, but when customers are unreasonable, the owners of these establishments have cause for complaint as well.

One coffee shop owner took to social media after a would-be customer said that a can of Red Bull in his shop, priced at $1.60, was expensive.

Mr Bryen Yap explained in his Oct 18 (Tuesday) post on the Complaint Singapore Facebook page that Red Bull is served at his coffee shop with ice and a cup, and that hidden costs should also be factored in.

“Customer come to my coffeeshop and buy a can of RedBull….

Our price is $1.60… With Ice and Cup…

Of course… Sitting place.. table.. and chair…

He kao pay kao bu . Say expensive..”

The customer told him that he would rather go next door to the petrol kiosk for his drink.

But petrol station convenience marts aren’t exactly known for their low prices, are they? Part of the price you pay is for, well, convenience.

Mr Yap went on to say that he saw the customer half an hour later “squatting outside petrol kiosk with a can of Red Bull.”

And when Mr Yap himself went into the petrol kiosk, he saw that a can of RedBull costs $1.90.

Many netizens have commented on Mr Yap’s post, with one pointing out that the customer’s ego prevented him from returning to the coffee shop.

Some said that the price of Red Bull at Mr Yap’s coffee shop is actually cheap.
