Netizens posted videos and photos of thumbtacks a person scattered all over pavements at Yishun, which caused damage to the tires of cyclists in the area.

This has been going on since Sept 19 (Monday), and around 30 riders have had tires punctured by the tacks and needed repair, according to a post on the Beh Chia Lor – Singapore Road Facebook page on Wednesday (Sept 21).

“Police reports have been made and officers were seen investigating at the locations around blocks 200+, 300+, 400+ and 600+ in Yishun,” the post added.

The video showed people picking up thumbtacks on the pavement to prevent further damage.

The @sgviralvids account shared the same video on TikTok, captioning it with “thumbtacks are laid out all over Yishun PCN… riders and joggers please be careful… hope the culprit is caught #yishunthumbtacks #sgtiktok🇸🇬 #sgtiktok #sgviral #singapore

Another video posted by Mar AttutuDe on the GrabFood Delivery Rider Singapore Facebook page showed someone also picking up the tacks at Block 348A, shining a light on the path to collect the thumbtacks since the video was shot in the evening.

On Tuesday (Sept 20), Ms Deon Ng shared photos and videos on her Facebook page, expressing dismay over the incident, which posed a threat not only to riders but to pedestrians as well.

“Since ytd until today, all over yishun area, don’t know who wan to sabo the riders, alots of rider kena, some even front and back wheels, throw thumb tag all over it, hey, u like that not just sabo the riders, u saboing the pedestrian as well, what if kids step onto it?
