A birthday celebration at a local coffeeshop turned sour when a disgruntled HDB resident allegedly threw a 10 KG iron plate that smashed into the brand new car of one of the party-goers.

According to the Chinese daily, the incident took place at Block 443 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10, around 10pm on Tuesday (26 Feb). One of the party-goers, 55-year-old Mr Tan, told the publication:

“I was getting ready to go home when I heard a loud sound. Something hit on top of the canopy of the kopitiam, then rolled down and smashed the windscreen of my friend’s car.” (sic)

Revealing that his friend’s car was parked at the open-air carpark, right beside the coffeeshop, Mr Tan said that he was shocked when the “thing” smashed into the car since he was barely metres away from the car.

Mr Tan and the other party-goers were further shocked to find that the “thing” that damaged the car was a 10KG disc plate.

He said that his friend bought the damaged white Hyundai hatchback for over S$70,000, just a few days ago, and that repairs were estimated to cost up to S$4,000.

Meanwhile, a long-time Block 443 resident named Mr Hu told the publication: “This kopitiam, police will come here several times a week because of the noise complaints. Maybe it’s someone who got angry because of the noise and threw it down.” (sic)

Police investigations are ongoing.
