AJOOMMA star Jung Dong-Hwan is ready for more intimate scenes for the sequel of the award-winning film

Jung Dong-Hwan, a 73-year-old South Korean actor who co-starred with Singaporean actress Hong Hui Fang in the award-winning film AJOOMMA, said that he is willing to learn a new language (Mandarin) and challenge himself for more intimate scenes for the possible sequel of the film.

The director, Hu Shuming, had mentioned that the sequel will be about the story of Jung Dong-Hwan’s character – where he goes to Singapore to find the lead actress’ mother.

Recently, the whole cast of AJOOMMA went to the Busan Film Festival for the film’s world premiere. This event was seen to be meaningful for it was a cultural exchange between Singaporean and South Korean stars as they give importance to both cultures.

Dong-Hwan stated that the sequel may require him to speak a lot of Mandarin, which he will definitely give his best to learn. He also said that the new culture that he will experience will help him grow personally as an actor.

Furthermore, Jung Dong-Hwan is open to intimate scenes such as kissing.

“There is nothing actors can’t do. If two people have such emotional development, their intimate behavior is also reasonable, so of course, they need to cooperate with the plot” he said.

More so, when performing as an actor, he forgets that he is a husband to avoid worrying about his wife’s reaction. The 73-year-old is sure that she will understand, as it is part of his job.

The film, AJOOMMA, is Singapore’s entry for Best International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards (Oscars) and has four nominations at the 59th Golden Horse Awards.

AJOOMMA premiered in cinemas last Oct 27, 2022.
