SPF: Three arrested, including 15-year-old, within 15 hours for Tampines motorcycle theft

SINGAPORE: Three suspects, a 21-year-old man and two male teenagers aged 15 and 19, have been arrested for the suspected theft of a motorcycle from a carpark along Tampines Street 83. All three were identified and detained within 15 hours of the Police report being filed.

The victim reported the theft on August 17, 2026 at about 10 p.m. Through follow-up investigations and ground enquiries, officers from Bedok Police Division and the Police Operations Command Centre established the identities of the trio and made the arrests on Aug 18. The stolen motorcycle was recovered.

The 21-year-old and the 19-year-old were charged in court on August 19, 2026, with theft of a motor vehicle with common intention under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871, which carries imprisonment of up to seven years and a fine.

Police investigations into the 15-year-old are reportedly ongoing.

The Police used the case to remind motorcycle owners to take basic precautions: park in well-lit areas, install and maintain an anti-theft alarm, always remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle when leaving it unattended, and never leave spare keys or transponders inside storage compartments.

In another story about theft, two male Chinese nationals aged 43 and 50 have been arrested for breaking into a temple along Tai Gin Road and stealing between S$300 and S$400 from its donation boxes.

The arrest was made more than four months after the offence, when they returned to Singapore and were detained by officers who had identified them through CCTV footage.
