Dimo Pay appoints new CEO

 

Following the recent resignation of CEO Brata Rafly, Indonesian mobile payment startup Dimo Pay appointed Mario Gaw as its new CEO starting from June 1.

“He will be responsible for driving Dimo to the next level, improving on the solid foundation and momentum which was successfully achieved by the Dimo team under Brata Rafly’s leadership. We appreciate Brata’s efforts and his service to Dimo very much. He has done a great job with Dimo’s formation and has brought growth to the organisation over the past couple of years,” the company stated.

Gaw was previously known as Country Manager of property listing portal Rumah123. He was also part of the founding team and leader of helloPay Indonesia, GlobalPay Indonesia, and Smartfren’s mobile wallet app Uangku.

Jakarta Great Online Sale begins

Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade, the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta, SMESCO Indonesia, and e-commerce platforms Orami and Berrybenka launched the Jakarta Great Online Sale, an online retail holiday which will be held on June 15 to 22.

First initiated by Orami and Berrybenka in 2013, the event coincides with the city’s 490th anniversary celebration and will offer up to 95 per cent discount on participating e-commerce sites.

This year, 150 e-commerce sites and online marketplaces are participating in the event.

Canva officially enters Indonesian market

Australian design platform Canva announced its official entry to the Indonesian market with the setting up of a marketing and partnership team in the country.

The startup had recently launched a version of its platform in the Bahasa Indonesia, and is also releasing an Idul Fitri-themed templates in its Indonesia edition.

Claiming to have secured more than 100,000 users in the country, Canva International Head of Growth Andrianes Pinantoan dubbed Indonesia as one of its “fastest growing market.”

“We will be investing in local marketing, business development, partnership, and adjusting our product in Indonesia in order to introduce Canva to social media marketers, bloggers, and SMEs, as well as empowering them to create their own beautiful designs,” Pinantoan said.

Founded in 2012, Canva is currently valued at US$345 million. It has raised fundings from Felicis Ventures, Blackbird Ventures, Matrix Partners, as well as Hollywood actors Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson.

Kudo teams up with government to launch AyoMudik

O2O e-commerce startup Kudo is working together with the Ministry of Communications and Informatics, Ministry of Transportation, and other related government agencies to launch AyoMudik, a mobile app to assist mudik travellers during the Idul Fitri holiday.

Mudik is an annual tradition where citizens living in big cities such as Jakarta are returning to their hometown to visit their families for Idul Fitri or other important religious holidays in the country.

A great number of people travelling in such short time –in 2016 alone, 18 million people are travelling by road– often led to accidents with a great number of fatalities.

The AyoMudik contains information vital to road travellers such as route, facilities on the journey, and congestion points.

According to Minister of Communications and Informatics Rudiantara, the mobile app took only less than a month to develop.
