Aljunied-Hougang Town Council (AHTC) initiated contact with one of the ‘Big-4′ accounting firms, KPMG, Deloitte, Ernst & Young and PwC, a day after the Court of Appeal ordered it to do so, to help the town council address shortcomings raised earlier by the Accountant General’s Report.
The opposition-run town council however “needs more time to provide information relevant to the appointment of the accountants to the HDB”, said AHTC’s Chairman and MP for Aljunied Town Council, Pritam Singh.
On January 22, the Court ordered AHTC to nominate an accounting firm which is also acceptable to Housing & Development Board (HDB) by today (February 5) to audit its accounts.
HDB said that it has no objection to the Workers’ Party held town council’s request, but that AHTC has to write to the Court of Appeal to request for an extension of the deadline.
Mr Singh said that AHTC will be writing to the Court to request for an extension of time.
