Woman says when her father gets angry, he cuts off power supply to the house or throws away his kids’ personal items

A woman having problems with her bully of a father took to social media to ask others for advice on what she should do.

“I have always been the shy, quiet person[n] who obviously lacks communication skills and sometimes rather just exit silently”, she wrote. She added that she grew up in a traditional family where the males took the lead and the women took “the back row”. Even when she witnessed her father stealing, cutting queues or being unreasonable, she would keep quiet.

“The only few times I did spoke up (to my dad), ended either in quarrels or cold war, as in he got so angry that he took it out on my mother and sibling as well. He always give all of us cold shoulders or throw items of someone/switch off the electricity from the power supply just to show his unhappiness and authority. Basically, “all for one”; one person anger him, everyone gets punished”, she wrote.

She added that moving out was not an option as she and her siblings did not earn much, with most of their earnings going to their parents and the family’s expenses. Her mother also had a chronic illness that needed them to help with.

“I got tired coming back from work to someone switching the main power off randomly or having to pick my items out from the dustbin. I really wish to tell him honestly how childish and annoying he is but I know things will get really nasty”, the woman wrote.

She added that her father’s behaviour was affecting everyone as he got more and more used to everyone giving in to him. She said that her mother was also becoming less tolerant and quarrelled more often with him.

The woman asked others for advice in her post and wanted to know what she should do to handle it.

Here’s what they said:
