WP MP Pritam Singh and his 10-month-old daughter were hospitalised for dengue

Workers’ Party MP and chairman of Aljunied-Hougang town council, Pritam Singh was hospitalised for contracting dengue during the Christmas season.
“There has been a spike in the number of dengue cases these past few weeks where I live,” he writes on his Facebook.
The MP said that it was the first time he same down with that infection and that the experience made him “understand why dengue fever is also referred to as ‘bone-breaking’ fever”.
Mr Singh’s 10-month-old daughter was was hospitalised at about the same time for contracting the same infectious disease. He expressed that seeing his daughter being hospitalised was far worse than his own suffering due to the illness.
“The NEA has reported a change in the dominant dengue viral strain and an increase in the mosquito population, so beyond preventive measures – do take additional precautions by sticking a mosquito patch on your children and double check to ensure the home is free of potential breeding spots,” he advised.
Wishing every one to take care and stay safe, the opposition-party MP also thanked the doctors and nurses and the KK Women’s & Children’s hospital. He said that having seen the work that they do in close quarters, his wife and he better appreciates their work.
