Tiny portions or exorbitant food prices strike again, this time shocking a customer at the quantity of noodles that came with fishballs.
“Yes, don’t be shocked. It’s a fresh, new portion, a minuscule portion that even a Primary 2 kid will find it tiny,” wrote a Facebook group Complaint Singapore member on Sunday (Sept 4).
She attached a photo of her fishball noodles from Encik Tan at Waterway Point.
The customer urged the public to stop patronising the brand “to discourage the stall aunty from having this practice to drive away customer so they can slack.”
“No, it’s not about inflation. These anti-customer practices have been around for recent years, let’s stop it together,” she noted.
According to Encik Tan’s menu, Fishball Noodles cost S$6.90.
It appears that portioning was an issue for other customers who dined at the brand’s outlets.
“JCube outlet too. Very small portion and finished within 2 mouths,” commented Facebook user Eileen Koh Teo.
“Same for Westmall outlet. Just had it on Sunday,” added Facebook user Lightning Chase Neo.
Meanwhile, one Tiger Heng ordered from the same outlet and ordered the Chickenball noodle. “Photo showed fried meatball – actual thing was fishball, and I dislike fishball plus portion very small.”
Others said that increasing prices and cutting the portion was “the worst.”
“Can say most of the places and stalls are doing the same. Cut down, including ingredients, etc. No matter the price they raise or not, and when asked, they’ll tell you now everything very expensive and their costs have risen. What they do is just push all to the customer,” said Facebook user Alvin Lim.
A netizen explained that Encik Tan is for people who want to eat halal Chinese hawker food without other options. “If you have a choice, you are better off eating elsewhere where they can use pork in the food for better authenticity.”
